INTRODUCTION

K.I.A is a comic book anthology and the much-awaited debut of femme fatale Kai as she breaks out from the pages of Angel Ace to star in her own title.

Thanks to events in Angel Ace NEXT, Kai has had her previous life stripped from her, as she is betrayed and liquidated by her own commander, Seta.
However, she reappears months later, alive and far stronger and deadlier than ever. In addition to her heightened abilities, her body can now regenerate any injury, making her virtually immortal. However, whatever gave her these new powers has also taken away all the memories of her previous identity.
Now known only as ‘K’, she has become a member of the KALI mercenary organization, embarking on mission after deadly mission at the command of her new commander, Madame Vanya.

With each mission she takes, K becomes more powerful, more skilled and more secure in her position as the deadliest martial arts assassin in the world. But even in her clouded mind, deep within there are elusive fragments of memory that seek to surface. Memories that point her to what she was and what she has lost.
One thing is certain. She’ll die trying to get the answers she seeks. As many times as she has to.

K.I.A. is a stand-alone title and series but is tied in with Marco Dimaano’s Angel Ace comics.

II. STORY

Briefing

Several months ago, a female operative known only as ‘K’ assassinated Ashaddi billionaire Mongref Iffar, an arms merchant and supporter of various terrorist groups. The assassin supposedly fought her way through Ashaddi’s guards, incapacitating a small army of highly-trained mercenaries single-handedly. After decapitating Iffar with a sword taken from one of his guards, ‘K’ was pursued by Ashaddi special forces as she was fleeing the billionaire’s mansion compound. According to reports, the assassin was shot several times with automatic weapons fire before she fell into the river and vanished.

In the following weeks, more high profile assassinations take place in various flashpoints all across the globe, also attributed to the mysterious ‘K’.

The reasonable conclusion is that there is more than one K - a corps of highly-trained, highly-motivated, professional female operatives, all with the same code name and bearing the same general appearance. This is corroborated by the fact that several of the known ‘K’ incidents have ended with the subject K.I.A., though the bodies of the slain operative have, for one reason or another, never been recovered

It is generally believed that the notion of an invincible, un-killable female super-assassin is ludicrous.
